Plot vertical lines at the key times that matter: market open, close, 11 am reversal window, and end of week.
This free TradeStation indicator uses the new EasyLanguage drawing object classes, so lines extend from the top of your price panel through any indicator panels below.
What You Get
Four customizable vertical lines, each with:
- On/Off toggle
- Time trigger (any time you want)
- Color input
- Line weight input
The vertical line indicator uses TradeStation’s DrawVerticalLine method – the newer approach that draws lines top-to-bottom across all panels, not just the price bars.
My Setup
I run two configurations:
Intraday charts: Dashed lines at the 8:30 am open and 3:15 pm close of the Emini. Cyan dashed line to mark the 11 am reversal window – most intraday reversals happen before this. If the market hasn’t reversed by 11 am, odds favor the trend continuing into the close. It’s a simple filter that keeps you on the right side of the move.
Higher timeframe charts: Single yellow solid thick line at Friday’s close to mark the week’s trading activity.
Installation
- Download the .ELD file above

- Select “Import EasyLanguage file” and choose the downloaded file
- Apply the vertical line indicator to any chart and customize the indicator settings
NinjaTrader Version: In addition, there is a NinjaTrader NinjaScript version of the original code available from the Downloads section of Scott Daggett’s site here.
