Emini Trading Update – Wednesday 31 Aug 2011 (16:49)

Rushing to get this update out the door. Not much to say, that I don’t say in the video. Hope you traded well today.

Chicago PMI (Purchasing Managers Index)

Just a note on the Chicago PMI data release that surprised me today.

The number is released to PMI subscribers at 8:41 am (CST) and then to the general public at 8:45 am. Hence the volatility “early” at 8:41 am in the video above.

Bloomberg indicated that the number would “Merit Extra Attention” but not be “Market Moving”. Well – not today! Glad I was on the right side of that trade.

Emini Trading Update – Tuesday 30 Aug 2011 (12:47)

Feel very workman-like over the last couple of days. All the excitement of huge sell-offs has passed and now just head down, focus hard, trade the setups and quit after 4 points.

Cyclical turns lining up on all markets tomorrow (or maybe the next day) and very little buying – so if the Professionals want this to turn into a “no looking back” up trend to 1,300 they have to do it tomorrow. Otherwise we’re testing 1,150.

Nice to get a relatively quiet day – after a manic and volatile Friday. I traded better today, grinding out my trades in kind of 2 point increments. The best entry of the day was my last trade – but I exited early because I wanted to be done for the day. Skip to the 18:13 mark in the video to see that setup. And apologies for the long video.

Emini Trading Update – Tuesday 23 Aug 2011 (11:35)

Bad day trading for me – just couldn’t re-calibrate that we were in an uptrend. The signs were there at 1,134 – I had just been beaten around too much by then.

So time to review charts and signals and come back into it fresh tomorrow. At least the wind has turned offshore and we’ve got a swell running.

Emini Trading Update – Monday 22 Aug 2011 (14:35)

Chances of breaking down to 1,100 have gone up a bit I think. The Pros gapped it up 30+ points at the open and let the Amateurs think the bottom was in. Then we spent the whole time in a down trend with Pros getting short every time we rallied.

Emini Trading Update – Friday 19 Aug 2011 (18:39)

Sorry, another long video. But we’re at a critical juncture – testing 1,100 on the Emini. Frankly I can see arguments either way – hold and rally from here or break 1,100 and find new support. So best to be nimble and ready for either scenario.

And how about that sell off on Wednesday night – once in a while I get one right. Mr. Market constantly humbles me, so no gloating here. After all … the market is just a random stream of numbers with some temporary trend bias.

And here were my trades for Friday. My stopped out trade was because I entered too early. And my last trade I should have held for longer. In and out too early – that’s the story of my trading.

So the question is: Was that a dead cat bounce and are we heading lower? 1,180 is the critical level now. We’ve been playing with 1,200 for a couple of days and now the cycles have rolled around and are heading down. I’ll put up a video of my day trades shortly – just want to get this post out before the cutoff.

Emini Trading Update – Wednesday 10 Aug 2011 (20:34)

Don’t know where we’re going but we got the Pull Back (PB) in a down trend signal on the 45 minute chart – so that should head towards and End of Trend warning signal. But as I discuss in the video, not sure we’ve had extreme selling on the 45 minute chart.

Yes, I can’t believe I’m saying that – not sure we’ve had exhaustion selling volume in the right place on the chart.

I’m not trying to predict or assume anything during the day – just read the indicators on the charts, get the trend direction right and hang on. And given we’re changing direction 3 or 4 times in a day that’s hard enough.
